Living-Portrait

I come upon. I become inscribed.
I come-to-find. I return to collect.
I use what is here. I let it become.

I interact with the every-day.
I enter the virtual, suburban,
city-scape, internal.
We converge.
I glean from these landscapes,
lifting language and image.

The alchemy of the everyday,
it is a process-oriented
way of living and creating.

These found scraps.
Language and image;
image, language.
Turning base metal into gold.

The work is and originates from
the scraps left behind.
Findings.

The work is about a place and it’s people:

Los Angeles.

The methodology is a form of
nonintervention and manipulation.
There are no expectations.

I am interested in the splaying, the capture.
It comes as a perfect act, or by accident.
The evidence of ourselves, just by being.

And then the Tellings that come after.
The piecing together.
The making it up-- the making,
of what just happened, all that happened,
and what’s hidden behind.
